Terms and Condition for Repairs and Pre Purchase Car Inspection

Inspection Process

SYD Vehicle Inspection Vehicle Inspection conducts visual roadside inspections without removing or repairing any components. The vehicle remains untouched unless the owner permits otherwise.

Buyer’s Guarantee

  • The inspection report belongs to the buyer and will not be shared with the seller or any third party.
  • Buyers can verbally inform the seller of faults but cannot request SYD Vehicle Inspection to share the report.
  • SYD Vehicle Inspection provides advisory opinions but does not make purchase recommendations.

Seller’s Guarantee

  • Inspections are purely visual; no parts are opened for diagnostics.
  • Test drives follow legal speed limits and require seller consent.
  • The vehicle is returned in its received condition unless a fault is found.
  • No personal or legal details about ownership are collected.

General Inspection Policies

  • Inspectors are highly professional and will show their ID upon request.
  • No vehicle components are removed, ensuring the car remains as found.
  • All road rules are followed; unregistered vehicles are not test-driven unless a trade plate is provided.
  • Inspections must take place in a safe and legal location.

Liability and Limitations

  • SYD Vehicle Inspection does not verify legal aspects like ownership, odometer accuracy, or vehicle legitimacy.
  • The service is a general visual roadside inspection and does not compare to workshop inspections.
  • No warranties or legal certifications (E-Safety, Blue Slip, etc.) are provided.
  • SYD Vehicle Inspection is not liable for post-inspection changes to the vehicle’s condition.
  • Refunds (partial or full) are possible only for severe engine or gearbox issues found within two days and under strict conditions, requiring a manufacturer’s report.

Remote Purchases

  • SYD Vehicle Inspection strongly advises against remote vehicle purchases due to fraud risks.
  • Buyers should not rely solely on pictures or verbal discussions.
  • If a buyer books an inspection but disagrees with this policy, they can request a full refund before the service starts.

Test Drive Conditions

  • Test drives are only conducted when legal and safe.
  • Vehicles with major faults (e.g., oil leaks, faulty brakes) are not driven.
  • Unregistered vehicles require a trade plate from the seller.
  • Manual prime movers are not driven by SYD Vehicle Inspection but assessed while the owner operates them.
  • Automatic trucks are driven unless unsafe conditions exist.

Legal Matters

  • SYD Vehicle Inspection does not provide legal verification of vehicles or ownership.
  • Odometer tampering cannot be detected without official government data.
  • Buyers and sellers must verify vehicle legitimacy independently.
  • Legal disputes, document verification, and fraud concerns are beyond SYD Vehicle Inspection’s scope.

Vehicle History Report – PPSR

SYD Vehicle Inspection Vehicle Inspection does not provide a PPSR report; clients must obtain it at their own expense.

Repair Dispute & Post-Purchase Inspections

  • SYD Vehicle Inspection Vehicle Inspection assists clients in disputes over wrongful vehicle purchases or repair issues.
  • Their senior inspectors provide guidance on potential cases but do not guarantee success in tribunals or court.
  • Inspections are independent and impartial, addressing concerns raised by clients but without legal involvement in ownership, fraud, or odometer disputes.
  • Reports are based only on issues detected at the time of inspection; no mechanical work or dismantling of vehicle parts is performed.
  • Clients must agree to all terms before booking, and the service cannot be booked or paid for online without prior consultation.
  • Photos or videos taken during the inspection will be included in the report, but pre-existing media from the client will not be considered.

Public Holiday Surcharge

  • Inspections on public holidays incur a 150% surcharge due to higher staff wages.
  • Clients must call in advance to confirm availability, and no surprise charges will be applied.

Cancellation Policy

  • Same-Day Cancellations: A confirmed booking canceled on the same day will incur a $66 admin fee, regardless of the reason.
  • Cancellations Within 6 Hours: If a confirmed booking is canceled within 6 hours of the appointment, 50% of the total quoted price will be charged.
  • Cancellations Within 4 Hours or No-Show: If a confirmed booking is canceled within 4 hours, the inspector is already en route, or the seller fails to show up, the full quoted price will be charged.
  • These conditions apply in all circumstances with no exceptions.
